Mary Louise Currin Hicks, age 91, died Monday, November 23, 2015, in Oxford.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Harry P. Currin and Claudia Averett Currin, and the widow of the late Charlie Thomas Hicks. She was a member of Oxford Baptist Church and worked at Green’s Jewelers and later at Elliott’s Jewelers for 25 years.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday November, 25, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery, by Rev. Chris Aho.

She is survived by her son Mark Hicks (Ginny) of Oxford, son-in-law Robert Russell of Raleigh, five grandchildren, Shannon Aldridge (Jim) of Cary, Robert Thomas Russell of Raleigh, Brent Hicks (Kelly) of Dublin, Ca., Drew Hicks (Blair) of Raleigh, and Matthew Hicks of Raleigh. She is also survived by two special nieces, Claudia Daniel (Billy) of Raleigh, Elaine Pellegrin (Bill) of Antioch, Ca., and a special nephew Tommy Currin (Joani) of Garner. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cree Hicks Russell, and brother T.J. “Pooky” Currin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oxford Baptist Church, 147 Main St. Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Friends may visit with the family at the home of Mark and Ginny Hicks.

Lou Hicks---what a great friend you were to the Currin family thru all the years. Will always remember all the Church activities, along with the "Supper Clubs". The visit with you last month at Brantwood was special---May the Lord be with all the family members & friends during this time! RIP

Mark - Wendy and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you and your family. We were so sorry to learn of you moms passing and know how difficult the past period of time has been. Know that we are thinking of you and hope that we can visit when we are back down in NC over the Christmas/New Years holiday. Jim

To a lovely and graceful lady whose smile warmed many hearts in and around Oxford. Lou was always a pleasure to work with when she was in retail. My heart goes out to you as you say good-bye to your mom and grandmom.
